Evelyn Lena (Verdette) Campbell, age 93, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at Arden Courts in Wilmington.
In 1941, Evelyn graduated third in her class from West High School in Green Bay. She also graduated as a registered nurse from the Kahler Hospitals School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota in 1946.
Evelyn was a loving wife and mother of five children. She was employed as a registered nurse in Green Bay and later at Foulk Manor in Wilmington, and as a sales associate at Strawbridge & Clothier Department Store. Evelyn was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for 52 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Ray T. Campbell, Jr. She is survived by her five children, Michael H. Campbell of Potomac, MD, Mary T. Prestowitz of Abingdon, VA, Ann M. Langham of Dunn Loring, VA, Paul T. Campbell of Cary, NC and Mark J. Campbell of Plainsboro, NJ; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one niece, Barbara Olson of Green Bay.
Evelyn's family would like to thank all the staff at Arden Courts as well as the staff of Heartland Hospice (especially Courtney, Marcy and Bob Harding) who provided excellent and compassionate care to Evelyn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am on Monday December 5, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will follow Mass at All Saints Cemetery.
