John Francis (Jack) Campbell of Newark, DE, died at the age of 70 on Sunday, March 29, 2015.
Jack graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1962 and from the University of Delaware where he received a BS in Business Administration in 1967. He served in the United States Army from 1967 - 1970 and was stationed in Vietnam from 1969 - 1970. Jack was honorably discharged and received the Bronze Star.
After the service, he started working for Wawa Food Markets where he retired after 37 years. He started as an auditing director, was a gasoline buyer, and later retired as a project manager in the construction department. He loved videography and shot and edited many weddings and dance recitals. Jack was an avid sports fan following the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers, and held season tickets for over 20 years in the north end zone to watch his favorite University of Delaware Fighting Blue Hen football team. As his grandchildren grew, he loved to attend their field hockey, golf, lacrosse, and soccer games when he could.
Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette; his brother, Samuel W. Campbell II; daughter, Julie Campbell Tokarski (Aaron); son, Jeffrey John Campbell (Jenn); and six grandchildren: Allison Campbell, Alexander Tokarski, Abigail Tokarski, Joseph Campbell, Amanda Tokarski, and Aidan Tokarski.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Chandler Funeral Home 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1 pm.
